On the Title

Roi-Et a.k.a. "101" is a city in the northeast of Thailand. I spent more than "One Night in Bangkok," and was on my way to Roi-Et. It wasn't my final destination in Thailand, but the place where I grew the most. I gained a tolerance for spicy food, and learned a little dialect called Essan-- a mixture of Laos and Thai. I learned that it's not the destination but the journey that matters. Just as random as my adventures were in Thailand, so is my life--it's like living in L.A. (oh by the way L.A. is another nickname for Roi-Et).

Just 5 Days Away

Guess where I'm going in 5 days! Nope, it's not Disneyland (although I truly do wish that). . . No, it's not there either! New Kids on the Block! Yes, in just 5 (long) days they will be in Salt Lake City, and I will be sitting in row 51 drooling like a geriatric over the amazing vocal stylings of Donnie, Joey, Jordan, Jon, and Danny.

I've loved them since I was 8, and I have never quite gotten over the break-up. In my infantile mind I thought they would be around forever singing and dancing to "The Right Stuff"--and they probably thought so too--but "fame is a fickle food" (according to the famous recluse Emily Dickinson). The concert is in West Valley so I am a little scared for my life, and the life of my car. But who cares. . . it's New Kids on the Block! Unfortunately, I will have to share the New Kids with my Korean roommate, Wendy (I guess New Kids were famous in Korea), and my friend Anela.

I can't believe you are really going, haha! You are so silly. Hope you have a good time. Remember to say hi to Joey for me, hehe
